A Bold and Bright Pink Feminist Comedy Duo Brand Photoshoot
Bitches in Stitches did not disappoint when they came for their bold and bright brand photoshoot here in my studio in Nunhead, South East London.
Sharing my love for female empowerment, passion for a bold pink backdrop and up for running through their acts while I photographed, theirs was a photoshoot that still brings a great big grin to my face.
A Female-Forward Bold and Bright Brand Photoshoot
This ‘all-femme comedy community’ is the brain child of co-founder Fran Ayala Rock, who brings raucous and bold feminist stand-up to the London comedy scene. She also happens to be a smart brand strategist and with experience in events, her vision for dressing the studio was absolutely spot on.
We brought night-out vibes, bold pinks and sassy props for the fun, and a well loved gender theory library for the feminism. There was talk of a disco ball, ooh and so much glitter confetti I was digging it out of the floorboards for weeks after! Although you’ll never have to ask twice about confetti. It just makes it so much fun that the energy and emotion you see is raw and real.
You can’t see the tears rolling from my eyes in these photos, but at one point I did have to ask them to stop so I could wipe them away!

Funny and far too clever for those she mocks, Arie is a glorious force to be reckoned with and one to watch.

A few weeks after this shoot, I took a couple of friends along to their inaugural monthly comedy night. We laughed so hard and felt so heard – but as women at a comedy night, that’s a rare thing. Which is what makes Bitches in Stitches such a welcome release.
There was such a positive respect for the women on stage (you could call it a zero tolerance policy). But this is one of the founding principles of this female forward brand. If as a woman on the male-dominated comedy circuit you have to fight first for the space and also for the respect you deserve, then what do you do? Stop trying to fight what’s broken and create the fix yourself. Given that both are so vital, I feel a brand that leads this well deserves to be shouted about. So what are you waiting for?
