Or a few lines on what you need. If you’re not already clear on what you want from your brand photography, you’ll find the questions I ask you really helpful to clarify where you’re headed. Ideas only come when you consciously work on them, so don’t let a lack of clarity stop you now.

STEP 2 – Moodboards & Clear plans

STEP 2. Turning ideas into plans

The second stage is bringing it all together – developing a mood board, mapping a story and determining a list of photos. This is the time to get props together, book a venue if needed, discuss & buy outfits, etc.
If you’re super nervous in front of the camera, I have some optional tasks for you to do to prepare for the next step.

STEP 3 – Making magic

STEP 3. Shoot, edit & deliver

You might leave me to it on shoot day, or you might be the star feature. Either way, it’s fun and it’s where we get creative. I’ll direct you so you know where to sit, stand and put your hands. Then sit back and patiently wait a few days as the culling, processing and editing of your photos begins. You excitedly open up an email with your gallery, wondering how your business ended up with a magazine shoot!

Frequently asked questions for London Brand Photography…

Location based brands (restaurants, venues) should focus on their own location. For personal brands and small businesses, an outdoor space such as your local neighbourhood or central London locations. If you don’t have or like your own workspace my East Dulwich/ Peckham home studio is full of natural light. Alternatively, hiring a room or location offers a fantastic design aesthetic and won’t break the budget.

I’m based in South East London – so your brand photography London shoot could take place in my small home studio by Peckham Rye, or we could go to a hired venue elsewhere in central London (zones 1-2). I’m in easy access of trains (15 mins from London Bridge/Blackfriars), the overground line (Windrush) and have free on-street parking.

A successful brand shoot needs the right props, wardrobe and location. You will most likely need a small budget for props or clothes – yes I just gave you permission to go shopping! If your London brand shoot needs a specific venue type, build the hire cost in. If you’re sending me things to photograph, include your postage costs. I am happy to source things for you and always open to keeping costs down and being resourceful.

Ooh, I love this bit! I will guide you as to what colours and textures to wear and would absolutely encourage you to bring more outfits than you need. That way, we have options and can quash any uncertainty.

Your headshots and portraits should be as up to date as possible, and your content (imagery and blog content) should be refreshed often. Ideally you’d be doing a brand shoot three to four times a year. Certainly, if you change your look, that’s also a time to update your brand photography.

If you need more than a full day or you book a follow up session later in the year – yes. New lines of products or publications come up unexpectedly, and for those occasions when you know your own photos won’t cut it, I offer a shorter refresh session. Well obviously, I’d say yes. A DIY or stock set of photos really just fills a gaping hole, but that’s all it does. If you’re looking to uplevel, start with great images: it’s the first thing you’re judged on, way before your clients even read anything you have to say. Value your photography and your clients will expect to value you: less than that does your brand image (and you) a great disservice.
